Lauren Conrad's Colorful Beverly Hills Penthouse

JillSeidnerLaurenConrad

Lauren Conrad's chic and colorful Beverly Hills penthouse was recently featured in InStyle magazine. Pictured above Lauren sits in her home office on a punchy orange tufted sofa and an area rug seen on the floor made from recycled silk saris.

Continuing with puncy colors is a custom rounded banquette in her breakfast nook complemented by an Eero Saarinen table.

JillSeidner

Her high ceiling living room with graphics and a black and white theme is remiscent of an airy New York loft, which she wanted the room to have a feel for.

JillSeidner

To add visual interest to the living room, she added moulding and brick veneer, then had it white washed to look more aged!

Her dark mirrored bar includes a black laquered ceiling.

The dining room table and chairs are vintage complemented by a contemporary light fixture.

Holiday Window Display at Christopher Guy

JillSeidner1

The Christopher Guy showroom on Beverly Boulevard, in the heart of the West Hollywood Design District, is in full festive holiday mode. The front windows are decorated with gifts and an elegant white tree among sophisticated Christopher Guy furniture pieces. I happen to pass by the other evening en route to an event and catpured a few pictures of the glam window display.

Faring Road Residence, Bel Air

JillSeidner6

On the market in Bel Air is a 40 million dollar home that I recently had the pleasure of touring on an architectural design tour with Cadillac and Architectural Digest. The home previuosly was occupied by none other than Beyonce and Jay-Z. The contemporary home is comprised of 16,000 sq ft including seven bedroom suites and features high ceilings, glass walls, a two story living room, a home theater, tennis courts, and an infinity pool with ample deck and lounge spaces.

Sheats Goldstein Residence, A John Lautner House

JillSeidner6

I recently had the opportunity to tour an iconic home, designed by famed architect John Lautner, and referred to as the Sheats Goldstein Residence. The house was built between 1961-1963 and sits atop Angelo View Drive in Los Angeles. The original home belonged to the Sheats family and was then purchased by James Goldstein in 1972. The house blends with the landscape in it's organic form merging indoor and outdoor living. A unique quality to the home are the "drinking skylights": the coffered ceiling living room is pierced by 750 mini skylights. The home uses cross ventilation for cooling; there is no air conditioning and the floors are radiant heated with copper pipes. Exterior covered pathways lead to the guest bedrooms and the master bedroom, hence the indoor/outdoor living. The home is currently undergoing expansion work (a club and office spaces on part of the property), which is being handled by Nicolson Architects, the chief architect who has been working on the property since 1994.
