San Francisco Event

For any of you readers in San Francisco this is an upcoming event you may be interested in attending. After all, what better way to spend a few days after Election Day with your mind off politics to enjoy cutting edge design along with cocktails & hor d'oeuvres.

J'adore Louis

Our Marie Antoinette asked moi (yes, me personally) if I would feature the modern day buffet and wine rack she keeps in a chambre at her home in Versailles. Bien sur, how could I not submit a request by one of our very own Material Girls? (I was also a bit surprised, I must say, to discover just how much she drinks wine - albeit the finest - after a day among the rolls of les fabriques.)

Nevertheless, it is here: the "Louis XV Commode" she had commissioned from Axis Form Lab. It comes in plywood, mdf, or acrylic. (Marie opted for acrylic.)

Now, I understand what she means when she says "J'adore Louis." C'est mangnifique!

Fashionista

SO...Bravo TV's show "Top Design" is now into their eighth week (Episode 8 airs this Wednesday), and although I've not been a faithful watcher (I just don't watch that much tv!) I had to check the Bravo website just to see what Kelly Wearstler was up to - outfit wise, not design wise! (Okay, actually, I have to admit I did watch Season 1 but that was only because a designer I used to work for was on that show.) After seeing Kelly Wearstler's outfits on the first season, I was intrigued to check back to see what she was up to for Season 2. No comment. But please feel free to leave your comments! :)

Just wanted to update the readers that Brocade Home has their website back up. (I reported a few weeks ago that they were redesigning the site and I had found their blog.) Thought I'd follow up with the news!

LULU

I've always been a fan of Lulu de Kwiatkowski's line of fabrics and wallcoverings (see Lulu DK ).

Now she has a book out! It's title is: LULU and it is a monograph of colorful, dreamlike, and autobiographical handmade collages. Lulu is also a prolific fine artist with an extensive body of work that has never before been published. Lulu's artwork draws inspiration from her unique experiences, as well as from her travels all over the world. Lulu's original multi-media collages combine painting, drawing, photography, and writing.

With a background in painting, textile design, and the decorative arts, Lulu's work blends depictions of flora and fauna, with geometric studies of pattern and color. Memories often appear in the form of hand written text, as well as in portraits of herself and her family members.

These images are a glimpse from the book which is also available on Amazon or bookstores. Great coffee table book!

Thomas Lavin

Just this past week, I received an email announcement from the Thomas Lavin showroom that the owner, Thomas Lavin, is featured in the October issue of Western Interiors. The Thomas Lavin showroom is located at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. I've frequented the showroom for quite some time now, and know Thomas since his days at Kneedler Fauchere. Love the feature of his home in the magazine!

Brocade Home

I've eagerly been anticipating the new redesigned website for Brocade Home. Quite some time has passed and I've yet to receive a current catalog nor access to their website. After continually checking back, it's still noted that they are undergoing a redesign for their website. Fortunately, I've discovered they've created a blog. It features some posts on architecture and fashion. Looking forward to seeing the new website!
