Spotlight on Dwell on Design 2014

Last week I attended the annual Dwell on Design event here in Los Angeles. The event covers many of the latest and innovative products in design, including everything from bath and kitchen design, to flooring and wall applications, to furniture and lighting, exterior and outdoor products, and even prefab houses and cool cars!

Here's a spotlight on some of the finds featured at this year's event:

These cool numbers and letters are from Architectural (local here in LA).

Fermob has a great line of outdoor products.

FormDecor pretty much has the coolest stuff you'll find in furniture rental, yes, rental!

Modern Urban Planters carries a line of very cool corrugated steel planters for both indoor and outdoor use.

Coolest porcelain tiles ever from Pental.

One of the most innovative in bathroom technololgy goes to Geberit: and the ability to flush a toilet from a tablet!

Touring the prefab houses was really cool, especially this one from Altius.

Cube Depot is really cool, these are made from shipping containers.

Loved all the vibrant color at Sunbrella!

TopBrewer has the coolest in coffee making technology: straight from a faucet on your countertop at the touch of an iPad / iPhone button!

Accessories, like the graphic pillows above, and glam furniture below are from LA local ModShop.

Furniture from ModShop.

Panasonic had all the latest in appliances and small electronics. The coolest? A cordless home phone that turns your iPhone into a landline phone. Pretty amazing!

Best Range Hoods showcased some pretty spectualar hoods, including one that is flush ceiling mounted for a seamless minimal design.

D&M Flooring has some really cool flooring products - vast array of products – solid, engineered, smooth, brushed, fumed, carbonized, and hand scraped. The product above is called SQR and they are wood floor tiles.

Thank you to Geberit for inviting me to attend Dwell on Design this year.

Blog Tour NYC: Meet the Sponsors

For Blog Tour to happen, it takes great sponsors and Blog Tour NYC was no exception: DXV, Wilsonart, Donghia, Mr.Steam, NousDecor, and Blanco America all came together to align with Modenus. Thanks to their great support and involvement they contributed to the experience we, as bloggers, had during our trip to NYC.

DXV by American Standard

DXV provides meticulously crafted fixtures and faucets that celebrate the movement of over the past hundred years. The bathroom above, by designer Meredith Heron and created using DXV fixtures, is titled Modern Gatsby.

Wilsonart LLC

Laminate has come along way: this amazing kitchen features Golden Romano Wilsonart® HD® High Definition® Laminate countertops with a Wilsonart® Crescent Decorative Edge (image via Pinterest).

While at ICFF on Blog Tour NYC, we visited the Wilsonart booth where we got to see chairs on display designed by students using Wilsonart products - really cool designs!

The designer and his chair - one very interactive piece!

As I am very familiar with the Donghia showroom here in Los Angeles, it was neat to tour and learn about the history of Donghia as we did when we visitied the D&D Building showroom location.

Their pieces can be defined as classic, unique, timeless. A look at their Pinterest boards, and easily inspired by the amazing collections.

I loved these glass lamp bases I saw during our showroom visit. (And yet, I've seen them forever in the LA showroom, hence the definition of timeless.)

Mr. Steam

Well, we actually know Mrs. Steam, and we love her, and her name is Martha. She is the one behind Mr. Steam and has been a great supporter of Blog Tour (along with hosting us on some fun events!). One of which was a visit to Aire Ancient baths for a spa day while on Blog Tour NYC.

BLANCO makes some pretty impressive sinks and faucets. I am a fan of their minimilist, clean lines and the hideaway sinks featured in the Crsytalline collecion. (*While meeting up with Blog Tour LA when they came to town, our local Poggenpohl showroom hosted an event with Blanco and Gaggeneau, this is a great post by Geraldine from Little Blue Bell)

NousDECOR is a platform for creating concept boards and described as a way to "Visualize your dream interior. We'll help you bring it to life." As a fan of creating concept boards, I enjoyed perusing over the many the site features and looking forward to creating some of my own too!

#BlogTourNYC: Thank you to all the sponsors!*

{*Still more coverage to come! (Events, shows, and sponsors!) ...but, um, I had to make a little deadline today!}

Blog Tour NYC: The "What Happens on Blog Tour" Edition

Blog Tour NYC presented by Modenus

We came, we saw, and we sure did exerience: what happens on Blog Tour NYC gets put all over social media. A few days of whirlwind activities and this blog tour was no exception: cocktail parties, dinner parties, Wanted Design, Kips Bay Showhouse, a private designer residence tour, a meet & greet with NousDecor, an afternoon at ICFF with Mr. Steam and Wilsonart, an exclusive party at MOMA, the High Line walk with Mr. Steam, an intimate dinner with DXV, a private showroom visit to Donghia, and a farewell dinner at the L'Ecole International Culinary Center. Just to summarize.

The best part? A great team. Hosted by Veronika of Modenus, her continued efforts and hard work coordinating one succesful blog tour after another came through again for this tour and I was beyond thrilled to be included as one of the most international groups of bloggers ever as part of Blog Tour NYC. To meet the great group of bloggers that I got to know and bond with personally, visit: Meet The Bloggers

In the coming days, I will be featuring some one on one posts covering the events we attended and the sponsors who all made Blog Tour happen. For now, I thought I would start off with some highlights of a glimpse into my Blog Tour NYC.

And be sure to follow Modenus on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest for recaps from all the bloggers - we all have much to share!

First things first: checking into the CitizenM Hotel Times Square (a unique boutique hotel concept conveniently located just off Broadway). Staying here was all very deja vu for me as I had stayed at their London location while on Blog Tour London.

Straight from check in and it was rooftop at the CitizenM to join my fellow bloggers for cocktails before leaving for the first of many events kicking off Blog Tour NYC.

And one of those many events was a cocktail reception at the DXV showroom in Manhattan. The highlight for me was reconnecting with my Blog Tour London Besties (from left): Jennifer, Cheryl, me, and Lynn. It was fun to see the gang!

The next day, we started off our morning with a vist to Wanted Design. Why the boys? Well, just out of the car, a dozen girls, and the next thing you know these two boys (who just happen to be standing in front of the signage) end up being asked to stand and smile. Makes for a good picture after all.

We spent much of that first day traversing the bustling streets of Manhattan: from Wanted Design to the Kips Bay Showhouse and then to a late afternoon cocktail reception at the Scott Sanders designed Printing Press apartment.

On our next morning, we attended a breakfast presentation with Blog Tour NYC sponsor, NousDecor. Here's me, Veronika, and my fave PR person ever, Andrew Joseph (Oh the places we've been together! LA, London, NYC, Vegas!)

Hitting the streets: the BlogTourettes gather for a selfie before making our way up to ICFF (L-R: me, Annabel, Ann, Kimberly).

While at ICFF, it was fun to see my LA friend Ginna exhibiting for Woven Accents. Here's us standing in front of a Gregory Siff designed rug.

That evening, we attended a party at MOMA in conjunction with ICFF. Our group, L-R: Susan, Kathy, Carole, Ann, Anya, me, Iris, Annabel, and Linda.

The next morning, with gorgeous weather, we took a walk on the High Line with our friend (rather, like family) Martha of Blog Tour supporter, Mr. Steam. Here's a street view from the High Line.

Taking a little detour from Blog Tour NYC activities, Veronika and I met up with Messe Frankfurt for a late brunch at The High Line Hotel. It was fun to see this very charming hotel, too.

That same evening, we had an intimate dinner hosted by DXV at Bar Americain restuarant in Manhattan. (With Annabel and Anya both to my right.)

In between amazing events and dinners, there was free time to wander the streets of NYC. On our final day, fellow Blog Tour NYC pal Ann and I made our way through the streets of Lower Manhattan: checking out the Bowery and SoHo as we made our way to the New York Design Center for an afternoon visit to the Christopher Guy showroom. Here's a view from Washington Square Park on an absolute gorgeous day.

Our final and farewell dinner was a multi-course (and multi-wine tasting) sit down dinner (along with a tour!) of the L'Ecole International Culinary Center. It was quite THE experience and I am craving to go back.

And with that, we thank Veronika for everything: #BlogTourNYC inscripted in wood. The hashtag of all hashtags. Thanks for another memorable experience!
