On "The Coveteur" - Monique Lhuillier

I loved coming across Monique Lhullier (Los Angeles based fashion designer) on The Coveteur today. The article not only features her clothing collection (stylish shoes, jaw dropping dresses, pretty purses) but glimpses into Bel Air home (which was once featured here on Elle Decor, and has always been a favorite of mine). For the full feature, check it out here.

Heavy Metal

[Stainless steel elements in a kitchen mixed in with rustic finishes for a warmer look.]

Stainless steel in a kitchen can look sleek and modern. While stainless appliances and fixtures may be increasingly popular, so are stainless cabinets and counters. Mixed in with other elements (wood, stone) the look can feel much warmer yet still modern. Here are some heavy metal kitchens!

Lots of stainless faced cabinets - but when paired with the warm wood floors, looks much less cold.

Mixing it up: stainless, subway tiles, and wood cabinets all come together in this contemporary kitchen.

Clean, sleek, and ultra-modern.

More of an industrial vibe with the exposed ceilings, rustic floors, and mix of kitchen finish elements. Add in the eat-in table for a truly industrial chic look.

Simple, refined, no upper cabinets but the lower stainless cabinets make a big statement.

The epitome of modern stainless cabinetry - minimalistic at it's best.

A Visit to Plantation LA

photo 1

The other day I happen to drop by the Los Angeles showroom of Plantation LA, a furniture store co-owned by my friend Clayton. Plantation actually has multiple locations, the Los Angeles location that I visited on La Brea Ave, another showroom in Santa Monica, and yet another in San Francisco. Here's a look at the La Brea showroom!

Near the front entrance is a bed vignette set up with an interesting headboard and accessories.

JillSeidner3

These table clocks make great accessories!

JillSeidner2

Love this mirror!

JillSeidner1

And love this chair too! (Both Maison21 & I are "fighting" over it!)

JillSeidner3

But if I can have this chandelier then Maison21 can have the chair! (Actually the chair might look fun with the chandelier, nope - may have to have both!)

JillSeidner4

Pretty pillows.

JillSeidner4

Really love this sconce!

JillSeidner1

And the pendant fixture too!

Chic metal base bench for the foot of the bed.

Corner chair and pretty mirror.

Modern wall decor.

Vibrant color chair surrounded by eclectic accessories.

Cozying Up

With the recent cold front sweeping Southern California, the idea of cozying up to a warm fireplace sounds like the perfect solution. Here are some to keep in mind for both cold weather and year round inspiration.

It may be sunny out but it's still chilly, a daytime fire going and a cozy shaggy rug make this space feel warm and chic.

Having a fireplace with a sitting area just off the kitchen is great, given that area is typically the hub of the home.

Even if you do not actually have a fireplace in a bedroom, purchasing a freestanding unit like this one is a great solution for heat and ambiance.

So sleek and modern, sitting around a fireplace like this in the evening with a drink sounds divine!

A fun focal point of a fireplace, and a great idea to divide rooms.

If you are looking to update your home (a ranch or mid-century modern style), a fireplace mantle like this is a great look.

Part sitting area, part dining room - this space is even more multifunctional with a fireplace.

Another great room divider - and superb for entertaining and transferring between living to dining room.

Reflection in the mirror - a fireplace in the bathroom, what a luxury!
