Hotel Angeleno and West Restaurant

The Hotel Angeleno is located in Los Angeles on the border of Brentwood next to Sunset Boulevard and the 405 Freeway. At the top of the hotel is the West Restaurant & Lounge, a great place for drinks or dinner for both hotel guests and locals, like myself. Recently, the restaurant sent out letters inviting local residents for dinner as part of a welcoming of the new menu and chef. I have frequented the West Restaurant & Lounge many times, but was looking forward to trying out the new menu - and it did not disappoint!

The new menu features fresh, seasonal foods by chef Mathew Woolf (whom we had the pleasure of personally meeting!).

Chef Mathew Woolf brought us three appetizers to try! Pictured here are two of the three - on the left the crispy egg over arugula and on the right the cheese plate. As for our entrees, we had the lamb and the pacific snapper - everything was amazing!

I now have a "preferred guest" card which entitles me to free complimentary valet parking, discounts off food and beverage, and hotel stays. Super great value! Makes going to my local jaunt even more rewarding!

The restaurant also has a lounge side with views from the highest floor of the hotel. On some occasions they have events and live music.

On the first level of the hotel is a pool with outdoor seating and a fireplace - another great place to lounge!

The lobby of the hotel is contemporary and inviting.

At the entrance to the hotel is a very cool wall covered entirely in pebbled stones!

If you happen to be visiting LA the hotel is a great west side location to stay at - and whether a visitor or a local definitely check out the West Restaurant!

Sun Filled Spaces

Continuing with the theme for Spring...are interiors that are bright and sunny, bathed with natural - a welcoming way to divulge in Spring! Take a look at these pretty rooms!

Lots of light fills this room, and the Sunbrella upholstered breakfast nook is stain - resistant - which also means protective of sun damage. Smart for both indoor and outdoor use.

A wall of windows and a door certainly brings in a great deal of natural light, but to brighten the room even more are walls painted in a sunny yellow and sharp peacock blue accents create a hue filled room!

A touch of citron always brightens a room, and the color is perfect for a kitchen!

This cottage living room screams spring (& summer!) retreat by bringing the outdoors in...with colorful accents and floral throw pillows. The bamboo mirror and green plants are great accents in creating that outdoor vibe.

A bedroom with lots of natural light and white painted walls is a perfect sunny retreat!

Hope your home is filled with sun filled spaces!

Spring into Color!

Spring is officially here! Along with a fresh season, a fresh coat of paint might or some colorful accessories may be in need. Check out these cheery, bright interiors for inspiration!

Hello Yellow! Can't go wrong with yellow! This breakfast room was recently featured on the cover of House Beautiful magazine's spring issue.

For the outdoors, consider adding pops of color with chairs.

Bring nature indoors by having a decorative painter create a mural or consider decals, like these from Etsy!

Paint the front door a fresh, cherry color!

Spring cleaning the closet? Spruce it up with a pretty chandelier and pastel colored storage baskets.

Bathrooms always look so pure and clean in white, but a punch of color as with the green accent tile and green painted vanity add some flair.

Love orange! And the colors in the artwork are bold to tie it all in! Bring in fresh flowers for more spring cheer!

It's daring - but brightly colored window treatments such as these yellow drapery panels will add spring cheer year round.

And if not wanting to make that sort of investment, try a soft pale yellow and bright accent pillows in a sunny spot for a bit of spring color!

Happy Spring!

WestWeek Recap

It has been quite a few eventful days this past week with WestWeek taking place, two days and three nights of back to back showroom events and parties! Here's a recap of my WestWeek highlights!

Starting with a kick off party at interior designer Michael Smith's showroom, Jasper, hosted by Margaret Russell and Architectural Digest magazine.

My friends Morgan and Christian of Maison21 at the Jasper Showroom / Architectural Design party.

The next day I ventured over to the Pacific Design Center to take part in the events as an "official" blogger for WestWeek. (Thanks to Crestron and Andrew Martin for sponsoring.)

One of my first stops was to drop by the Thomas Lavin showroom to check out the new lighting pieces designed by Kevin Kolanowski of Fuse Lighting. Kevin was at the showroom to give a tour of his new selections - loved this wall sconce!

Next stop, was the Duralee Fabrics showroom for the John Robshaw textiles preview and an event with HipSwap co-hosted with Turquoise. I met up with Alissa from The Goods Design and Christian of Maison21 (standing in front of the new John Robshaw fabrics).

Vanessa of Turquoise and Typhanie of Shoebox Decor at the Duralee Fabrics showroom / HipSwap event.

In between events, Christian and I browsed a few of the design showrooms, stopping in at the David Sutherland showroom. While he was checking out the Perennials outdoor fabrics, I was checking out some of the dramatic lighting like this chandelier.

Following the California Home + Design "Rise of the Rock Star Designer" keynote, the Andrew Martin showroom held a reception party. Pictured here is Typhanie of Shoebox Decor, Christian of Maison21, & Matt Locke of Design Star.

After the Andrew Martin cocktail party, we decided to leave the PDC and "hit the street" where we walked down Melrose Avenue to the Dennis & Leen open house.

While the interiors of the Dennis & Leen showroom are gorgeous, I took respite in the courtyard with the koi pond.

Next we headed back up Melrose Avenue to stop by the Rose Tarlow Melrose House cocktail party.

Turns out, there was a little surprise at the Rose Tarlow showroom - fashion designer James Galanos (also known as Nancy Reagan's dress designer) happen to be there. Here he is pictured with Christian.

Our last stop of the first day of WestWeek events was the House Beautiful party hosted by interior designer Peter Dunham of Hollywood at Home.

With more events and showroom open houses taking place on day two of WestWeek, I held out for the grand finale "rock star of parties" - the coveted Restoration Hardware party, complete with greige "red" carpet arrivals and guest list only invites.

The event was also to benefit LACMA (The Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and celebs came out to lend their support. Pictured here is actress Elizabeth Banks with model/actress Milla Jovovich.

Also in attendance, Restoration Hardware CEO Gary Friedman.

My favorite: the graffiti wall in the courtyard at Restoration Hardware.
