Paris' Pad

Making the rounds of real estate and design blogs last week, was the announcement that Paris Hilton's former house is available for rent.  The house, located on Kings Road in West Hollywood sold in 2007 for $3.8 million and is currently available to rent for $20,000 a month. The listing agent is Mauricio Umansky, husband of Paris' aunt and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards.

In case you missed the visuals, here goes!

In this room, Paris is certainly the focal point.  All very glam, mirrored and black & white. Accessories? A Fendi throw pillow and mirrored obelisks.

The dining room is bright and crisp in white with contrasting ebony wood floors, a mirrored dining table, and a crystal chandelier.

The entry foyer, high in black and white contrast complete with a zebra striped area rug to carry the theme.

Paris's mirrored bed (as also seen in Emily's recent post), accented in pretty shades of pale pink.

Step into Paris' closet: a mirrored dresser and a glam chandelier make this the ultimate girly girl walk-in closet.

The private backyard has a poolside tented cabana and chaises decked out in black and white.

{Did anyone spy what looks to be a stripper pole in the center of the coffee table in the very first picture?}

Crowning Glory

In the spirit of the Royal Wedding, the UK company Graham & Brown has launched a new wallpaper design called "Crowns & Coronets." The wallpaper was designed specifically to mark the occasion of Prince William and Kate Middleton's upcoming nuptials.

The design features black crowns and coronets on a white background with the option to add self-adhesive "Royal" jewels in a range of colors.

Also included in the promotion are a selection of interior paints from Graham & Brown’s ‘The Colours that Made Britain Great’ collection. These include "Princess to Be," "Jewel in the Crown", & "Cool Britannia."  Each paint color compliments the Crowns and Coronets wallpaper design.

On the Terrace

This weekend in Los Angeles we have been experiencing a bit of summer like heat, with temps nearing the 90's in mid-city LA.  The warm up is a nice change and people are out and about enjoying the summer like weather.  For city dwellers, even a balcony or terrace becomes a great place to enjoy a nice day.  I think these small spaces have great potential - here's some inpiration!

Let's Play House!

As a kid, I had a life-size playhouse in our backyard.  It was pretty basic: a box, with a pitched roof, one exterior window, a dutch door.  It was painted blue with white trim.  Completely unfinished on the inside with no electricity or running water (joke).  At certain times of the year it was cold and damp inside with a musty smell.  But regardless, it was my little retreat and I played for hours in there with friends.  Or rather, I played for hours, friends stayed for brief visits.  I couldn't even manage to keep Scamp, our Cocker Spaniel in there for very long, he always wanted out for some reason.  It moved with us about three times and then I finally outgrew it prior to our next move. So my parent's put it "on the market" and surprisingly it *sold* rather quickly.

Well, the "playhouse real estate" market has changed quite a bit back from the time I had one! I came across these architectural gems of a playhouse from a company called Smart Playhouse.  If you are in the market for a modern and chic life-size playhouse - they sell ones for both indoor and outdoor.

The Illinois offers great views and a front porch.

The Hobikken is still contemporary, but has a more rustic warm cottage feel.

The Kyoto (mini) is much more futuristic looking.

The Kyoto (maxi) offers a second story and is inspired by Japanese avant-garde architecture.

The Casaforum is made of wood and steel, with a textured facade.

For indoor playhouses, there are two options:
